The Brazilian Football Confederation confirmed the league meeting between Santos and Coritiba has been moved to Neo Química Arena. The game remains on Sunday 17 May at 11:00, part of the 16th round of the Brasileirão. There is no change to date or kick-off.
Santos secured approval from the federation and agreed the stadium rental with Corinthians on Thursday, the final day allowed by competition rules to request a venue switch.
The club is taking the match to the capital to seek higher revenue and a larger crowd. Santos will again be the home side at Neo Química Arena.
It will also be their last outing with Neymar Jr before Carlo Ancelotti announces his World Cup squad on Monday 18. The board continues to lobby for the No 10’s inclusion and is weighing further dates in the capital.
Under Marcelo Teixeira, Santos have frequently staged home games away from Vila Belmiro. Last year they faced Bragantino in the Paulista quarter-finals at Neo Química Arena, drew 0-0 with Ceará at Allianz Parque, and beat Juventude at Morumbis.
This year they drew 0-0 with Bragantino at Neo Química in January, beat São Bernardo 2-1 at Morumbis and Red Bull Bragantino 3-1 at Neo Química in the Paulista, and lost 2-1 to Botafogo-SP at Estádio do Café in Londrina in Serie B.
