CBF released the VAR analysis in the early hours of Sunday of Carrascal’s sending off during Flamengo’s meeting with Palmeiras in the 17th round of the Brasileirão. The Colombian’s boot caught Murilo in the face and he was shown a straight red.
The on-field referee was Davi de Oliveira Lacerda and Caio Max Augusto Vieira led the VAR. Vieira advised the red card be upheld, noting the boot struck the opponent’s chest and face, a sensitive area, with force that endangered Murilo’s safety.

The dismissal came on 21 minutes with the match goalless at 0-0.
Flaco López broke the deadlock 17 minutes later, before Allan and Paulinho added further goals as Palmeiras won 3-0.
The result stretched Palmeiras’ lead at the top to seven points. They have 38 points, while Flamengo remain second on 31 with a game in hand.
