Celtic boss Martin O’Neill eyes tactical flexibility with new signings | OneFootball

Martin O’Neill has revealed Celtic are working on expanding their tactical options ahead of the new campaign, with new signing Kasper Hogh expected to offer greater flexibility in attack.

The Scottish champions completed the signing of the former Bodo/Glimt striker earlier this week after already strengthening their forward line with the addition of Camilo Duran from Qarabag.

Both players arrive at the Hoops with impressive European pedigrees after finding the net regularly in last season’s Champions League, and O’Neill believes their qualities could allow Celtic to adapt their shape when required.

“There should be more than one way to play the game,” he told Sky Sports.

“We have been playing a 4-3-3, but we changed it in the last few minutes against Hearts on the final day. We will work on being flexible during the course of the season so that if we switch to a 4-4-2 for half an hour, it shouldn’t be a problem for the team.

“The only way it is not a problem is if you practice it during the week.”

O’Neill also welcomed Hogh’s arrival, expressing confidence that the Denmark international can strengthen Celtic’s attacking threat while insisting responsibility for scoring goals must be shared across the squad.

“It is great news for the football club and for the fans. We want to improve our goalscoring, and he is the man to do it. I hope he will get help and that we are not just relying on him.

“Hopefully, the goals will be shared around, but if he is the main man, I hope he delivers.”
