Celtic consider experienced Premier League striker who wants £100k-a-week | OneFootball

Celtic are reportedly considering a move to sign English International Dominic Carlvert-Lewin. The 28-year-old was released by Everton at the end of last season but is yet to find a new club.

As reported by our friends at Caught Offside, Celtic are considering Calvert-Lewis as an option should they wish to add a further striker to their ranks.

A move by the Scottish Champions seems unlikely as it is stated that DCL wants around £100k a week from prospective new clubs, which rules Celtic out of this is correct.

Manchester United have been heavily linked with a move for the player as Ruben Amorim looks to rebuild from their disastrous campaign last year. The report states that a number of clubs are interested in the player.

“Newcastle, West Ham and newly-promoted Sunderland also all keen on him.

“Meanwhile, sources added that DCL has interest from Celtic, plus unnamed clubs in the Bundesliga, MLS, and the Saudi Pro League.”

While DCL has a proven pedigree in English football, he has struggled with fitness. The player likely would fancy a move to Celtic on the basis of Champions League football but the cost of wages is too steep for Celtic to be credibly interested. As the report points out, there are a number of teams interested in the player – including Man Utd. We can file this under unlikely.

Celtic are close to signing Shin Yamada for £1.5m, who will join Callum Osmand and Adam Idah as the striking options – as well as POTY Daizen Maeda. It is expected that Daizen will return to the left side given the additions as Brendan looks to replace Kyogo, who left the club in January.
