Celtic Set To Reignite Interest In Their Summer Target: Why A Winter Loan Must Not Be Ruled Out

If a recent update from the transfer expert Graeme Bailey is believed to be true, Celtic are keeping close tabs on Lennon Miller with a view to bringing him to his boyhood club within six months of his high-profile summer switch to Udinese from Motherwell. But they are not alone in the hunt, with Rangers set to clash heads with their Old Firm rivals for the midfield sensation.
Having represented his nation across various youth levels, the 19-year-old Scotsman earned his senior debut in June against Iceland. While he has been withdrawn from the Tartan Army squad for their November internationals due to injury concerns, the lack of minutes in Serie A has fuelled speculations of a potential January transfer.

The son of former Scotland international footballer Lee Miller, Lennon progressed through Motherwell’s academy ranks before bursting into the first-team scenes days after his 16th birthday in 2022. He featured regularly over the past couple of campaigns and went on to make 76 appearances ahead of an ambitious €5.5m transfer to Udinese.
But it has been a difficult few months for him in Le Zebrette colours, with just 74 minutes of Serie A action across four appearances. Kosta Runjaić, their head coach, recently opened up on not utilising the teenager to his full potential following a below-par performance against Juventus.
“Lennon played a lot of football last season. So I wanted to test him against Juventus because they are a great team. He could have done better – he lost a lot of balls and that shows to me he needs time to be 100 per cent ready here.”
Meanwhile, Scotland have two massive games lined up over the next few days which would decide their 2026 FIFA World Cup fate. Wins against Greece and Denmark would seal a berth in this prestigious event, whereas a setback would see them wait for the playoffs en route to securing a spot for the first time since 1998. Miller must attain game time to stake a claim in Steve Clarke’s plans, and therefore, should weigh up his options in the winter, unless his minutes increase post-international break.
Known for his versatility in the middle of the park, the youngster holds all the traits to succeed Callum McGregor for years to come. His technicality, vision and passing characteristics allow him to orchestrate the tempo as a deep-lying playmaker. Nevertheless, a move to Parkhead would depend on many factors, including who the Celtic
