Celtic Football Club is pleased today to share an update in relation to our plans for improved supporter engagement. 

We have recognised that there was work to be done in developing further in this area, with the aim of working closely with our supporters to achieve our shared objectives of continued Celtic success. 

Within this update we highlight the creation of an important new role of Head of Supporter Engagement, which will drive and manage the club’s work in this area, giving renewed focus and attention to the many important issues involved.

The club also outlines its proposed structure for a new fan engagement group, Celtic Connect, which will allow input into a range of club matters, delivering a forum which will allow opportunities for supporters to positively engage with senior club representatives and work collaboratively.

We also aim to continually look at ways to improve our matchday experience and ensure that our digital transformation continues at pace in order to deliver improved, direct communication with our supporters.

As well as these new measures, the club will also be very mindful of continuing its close liaison with existing supporters' groups, through face-to-face meetings, cognisant of the fact that these well-established organisations have done so much over so many years to represent the needs and views of so many supporters. 

Celtic Interim Chairman Brian Wilson said: “Jock Stein famously said ‘football without fans is nothing’. Celtic supporters are renowned throughout the world for their passion and commitment to the Club.

"The power to make a difference when united in support of the team was confirmed in dramatic fashion in the closing stages of last season.

"We made a commitment to improving our approach to supporter engagement and to create a structure through which better two-way communication can be achieved between the Club and the broad base of the support. This will be built on mutual respect and a shared commitment to Celtic’s continued success.

"There is already a lot of good work done in this area, particularly through our Supporter Liaison Officers and regular meetings with long-established supporter groups, which are continuing. We now aim to do more to enhance the breadth and quality of that engagement.

"As promised, this will not be through a single measure or appointment. We need a range of channels through which the views of the support can be reflected and responded to.

"Turning this into a positive force for the club, the team and the supporters will require goodwill and hard work, to which we are committed."
