As reported by Standard Liege expert Kevin Sauvage, the club are competing with Cercle Brugge to sign Dender striker Bruny Nsimba. The striker, who has scored nine goals for the side at the bottom of the Belgian Pro League this season, is set to be out of contract in the summer. Cercle Brugge are a side in desparate need of a striker. The data shows that the side create as many chances as some of the best teams in the league, but they have failed to take more chances than any other side. Nsimba could certainly help rectify that.
However, with Standard Liege also interested Nsimba has a decision to make. The club do have a number of strikers that have been signed in recent months, but none have really shone under head coach Vincent Euvrard. For Standard Liege, their financial situation makes the opportunity to sign Nsimba without having to pay a transfer fee a no brainer. However, the financial constraints at Standard Liege mean that Cercle Brugge have been able to put an offer on the table for Nsimba that is higher. As Sauvage has reported, Standard Liege will not raise their offer to meet the one on the table from Cercle Brugge.
It is clear that Nsimba will leave Dender after three fantastic seasons with the club. He was a key part of their shock promotion to the Pro League, and since the summer of 2023 he has scored 32 goals in 96 games. Coincidently, his nine goals and four assists in 28 games this season is identical to the numbers he put up in 38 games last year.
