Charlotte Healy got a first win as Bristol City manager this weekend
New Bristol City coach Charlotte Healy got her first competitive win on the board over the weekend with a dominant display against Portsmouth.
The Robins had previously lost their first league outing but were able to bounce back from defeat immediately.
Charlotte Healy was a long-standing assistant to Marc Skinner’s Manchester United team before joining Bristol City in the summer.
In Healy’s first competitive game with the Robins her team was extremely disappointing in a 2-0 loss.
The head coach was left frustrated in her team’s curtain raiser with referee decisions not going their way against Birmingham.
Against Pompey in game two of the WSL2 campaign Healy’s team needed no such luck though.
Bristol City were dominant in their second game of the season and there was clearly some relief on show from Healy as she got her first competitive win of the campaign.
“Really happy,” the head coach told City’s media team. “I felt we really dominated the game. We knew we needed to be better than last week, and we’ve worked really hard this week in training, so a really good performance, a really dominant performance.
“I think we had 75 per cent possession, created a lot of chances, my only criticism is that we didn’t put it to bed earlier, so that second goal was really important. I’m delighted with the first win and delighted that we showed a bit more of who we are today.”
The Robins shot back up to eighth in the league following their win first win of the season.
After their first win of the season things only get harder from here for Bristol City. Healy’s team face a Southampton team next week who are strong promotion contenders and have scored four on both of their outings so far.
