The January transfer window presents a huge opportunity for Chris Davies to bring in some additions to his Birmingham City squad in a bid to save his job, but he may be open to some potential outgoings too.

It hasn't been the season that Birmingham City fans would have been exactly hoping for upon their return to the EFL Championship.

A 111-point season in League One last campaign under Chris Davies was more than enough to see them smash the EFL points record and win the league title at a canter, with many hoping they could continue that rich vein of form into the following season.

A 3-0 defeat away to Watford, where a 33-year-old Tom Ince netted an unlikely hat-trick, meant that the Blues went without winning in any of their last seven league fixtures, whilst occupying the third-worst away record in the entire division.

With the January window underway, Birmingham have already completed a deal for German left-back Kai Wagner from MLS side Philadelphia Union, but he will surely not be the only piece of transfer business the club will conduct this winter.

Championship rivals Charlton Athletic are reportedly interested in their Scottish forward Lyndon Dykes this January, and with the other attacking options Birmingham possesses, the majority of his appearances have been limited from the bench, and he may well leave St Andrews this January in search of more game time.

Football League World's Birmingham fan pundit, Jason, has shared their views on whether the Blues should let Dykes go this January amid interest from Charlton, and what sort of fee they should command for the Scottish forward.

Jason said, "I mean, I was always quite happy having him as an impact sub if we needed him, but if there's better out there, which let's be honest, there is, I'm happy to let him go."He clearly needs first-team football to make sure he's in shape for the World Cup, which is fair enough. When Scotland isn't probably going to get there again."So yeah, for me, sanction it more than fine. Let him go play football."I think if we can realistically get £750k for him, I can't see there being big money. He's never really scored goals. And Charlton, I can't imagine Charlton has got tons of money to spend."I think if we get about £750k, I'd be happy, maybe £500k as a minimum."Yeah, I can't imagine it being a big fee. Let him go, a bit of money for us, gets his wages off, and then he opens up on options, gets something better."

Lyndon Dykes hasn't been able to nail down a starting berth at Birmingham City under Chris Davies and may leave the club this January amid Charlton Athletic interest

With the likes of Jay Stansfield, Marvin Ducksch, and Kyogo Furuhashi all vying for a place as the sole striker in Davies' 4-2-3-1 system, Dykes has found his game time seriously limited this campaign.

Indeed, even last season, he was utilised even less by the former Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City coach, making just 25 third-tier appearances, scoring once and assisting once.

The Scottish international came off the bench earlier in the season to net late winners against both Blackburn Rovers and Swansea City, but has since seemingly lost his goalscoring touch once more.

Charlton are one of the lowest scoring sides in the division, with their strikers having struggled to make an impact in the final third this season, with each of Charlie Kelman, Miles Leaburn, and Isaac Olaofe having netted less than five goals between them in the first half of the campaign.

Welsh head coach Nathan Jones will be eager to sort this issue out, and has seemingly set his sights on the experienced Dykes, whom he will hope to acquire for relatively cheap, or even on a loan deal until the end of the season.

Whatever the case, Dykes simply isn't making the desired impact at Blues, and with his place in the pecking order evident, a move to The Valley this winter may be the best outcome for all parties.
