Leeds United and Chelsea head to Wembley on Sunday with significant injury issues shaping their FA Cup semi-final.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Chelsea sacked head coach Liam Rosenior after Tuesday’s 3-0 defeat at Brighton, when key men were missing. Leeds also travelled to Bournemouth the following night with absences, and Sean Longstaff struck a 95th-minute equaliser to secure a 2-2 draw.
Leeds suffered further setbacks around that match, with Farke detailing the situation on Thursday. Midfielder Ilia Gruev sustained a meniscus knee injury in training this week and his season is over.
For Chelsea, interim head coach Callum McFarlane addressed fitness on Friday. Confirmed absentees include Estevao, after a hamstring injury against Manchester United, and Jamie Gittens, who has been out with a hamstring problem since the Port Vale quarter-final, with no return timeframe given at the time.
Levi Colwill remains sidelined as he recovers from an anterior cruciate ligament injury suffered last summer, while Mykhaylo Mudryk is suspended after an FA doping charge. Captain Reece James has not played since a hamstring issue last month, and with no fresh update on Friday, suggesting he remains out.
Both squads still have doubts while two players have returned to the fold as final preparations continue for Sunday’s tie.
