Chelsea suffered a big blow to their Champions League qualification hopes as they lost 3-0 to Manchester City on Sunday.
Nico O’Reilly broke the deadlock early in the second half before Marc Guehi quickly added another with a low finish.
Moises Caicedo cheaply surrendered possession to Jeremy Doku, who scored City’s third to wrap up an excellent victory at Stamford Bridge.
Pressure is mounting on manager Liam Rosenior, as his team have lost five of their last six games across all competitions. Journalist Fabrizio Romano claims he won’t be sacked.
“Chelsea continue to support Liam Rosenior,” he said. “This is the message from the club after today’s match. They don’t forget that he came in January, and there was no pre-season.
“It will be important to see how Chelsea finish the rest of the season. But for now, the message is: ‘we want to trust this coach’.”
Sunday’s home loss to Man City leaves Chelsea four points adrift of the final Champions League qualification spot.
The Blues needed to win to keep pace with Liverpool after they cruised to a comfortable victory against Fulham.
However, Rosenior’s side produced a disappointing display in front of their own fans to suffer their third consecutive Premier League defeat.
Chelsea are now in danger of missing out on Champions League qualification, as they are closer to 11th-placed Bournemouth than they are Liverpool.
More players could push for a summer exit if the club fails to qualify for the prestigious European competition.
