Standard Sport reported last month that Chelsea are not actively looking to offload the Portugal winger.

That remains the case, despite interest from Manchester City - now managed by former Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca — and links to Tottenham and Liverpool, plus clubs in Saudi Arabia.

Sources close to Chelsea have described Neto as “highly, highly valued” and pointed to the inflated nature of fees in the current transfer market involving wingers to indicate that Neto would not be sold unless a very significant offer was made.

Standard Sport also reported last month that Chelsea had not held serious talks with any clubs this summer over Neto.

Sources at both clubs have denied that Tottenham made an enquiry about Neto’s availability earlier in the window.

Chelsea are set to sanction a number of exits before the transfer deadline on September 1 , with a deal now agreed with Serie A outfit Como worth around £31million for versatile defender Trevoh Chalobah.

The respective Stamford Bridge futures of strikers Liam Delap, Nicolas Jackson and Marc Guiu have been thrown into further doubt after the arrival of veteran frontman Danny Welbeck from Brighton.
