Following his return after almost a year out due to an ACL injury, Barcelona acted quickly to tie fan-favourite midfielder Gavi to a new long-term contract.
The 20-year-old La Masia sensation was among a number of players who signed new deals in early 2025 with director Deco taking measures to secure the future of the core of the team.
There is no doubt that Gavi is seen as an integral part of the team for the present and the future at Barcelona.
However, the Spanish starlet has found himself out on the bench more often than not in recent weeks and is no longer a permanent starter under Hansi Flick.
Given the situation, Fichajes reports that Chelsea want to capitalise on it and try to lure Gavi away from Barcelona in the summer.
Chelsea are determined to strengthen its midfield and have set their sights on Gavi. The English giants are preparing a €60 million bid for the Spanish international, who has not been guaranteed a starting role under Hansi Flick.
Gavi is facing increased competition for a starting spot at Barcelona under Flick. The likes of Pedri, Frenkie de Jong, and Dani Olmo have taken on more prominent roles, leaving the 20-year-old prodigy looking in from the out.

Chelsea see Gavi as a key figure for the future of their project. At Stamford Bridge, the belief is that he needs a leading role – something that is not assured at Barcelona.
Chelsea’s board is focused on building a midfield packed with young talent, making the Barcelona academy graduate an ideal target.
However, Chelsea are not the only club pursuing Gavi. PSG have also shown strong interest in signing him.
Under Luis Enrique, the coach who gave him his debut for the Spanish national team, PSG view Gavi as a perfect addition to strengthen their squad.
The French giants have already initiated contact with his representatives to assess the feasibility of a transfer
Gavi, though, has always expressed his loyalty to Barcelona and made it clear that he wants to stay at the club for a very long time, while Flick also has a special relationship with the youngster.
The Blaugrana, too, are unlikely to consider the idea of selling one of their best homegrown talents.
