Enzo Fernandez’s superb season is reflected in his stats, with the midfielder topping the Premier League for xG from midfield.

Enzo is top of the whole division in terms of expected goals (xG), meaning he’s taken the cumulative most dangerous shots in the league. He has 8 goals in the league this season and we’d expect him to add a lot more.

Enzo dominates the competition in xG numbers

The list of top midfielders by xG according to WhoScored.

Enzo isn’t just top of the list, he’s dominating. Only Bruno Fernandes of Manchester United (8.89 xG) comes close to Fernandez’s impressive 9.80. Beating the Manchester United man is no mean feat – he’s one of the most productive players per minute in Premier League history in terms of goals and assists.

By the time you get to third place, the number has dropped almost by half to 5.75 for Bruno Guimaraes.

Enzo has some help in this – he’s on penalties when Cole Palmer isn’t fit, and plays in a very advanced role, in recent weeks almost as a left inside forward. But none of that should take away from this impressive record. With Andrey Santos and Moises Caicedo forming a really solid platform behind him now, the Argentine should be able to keep this pace up.
