Chelsea are apparently targeting a new attacker this summer who can play on the left or in a central attacking midfield role.

And with all the news that came out yesterday around Morgan Rogers of Aston Villa, it honestly just all points towards him – I believe Chelsea will try.

Do I believe they will land him? Nope, certainly not at the fee being branded around this week and also, with the other clubs interested in him. Chelsea cannot compete with many other big clubs in the wage department simply because of the new structure they have around paying lower base fees with incentives to try and get it up. Unfortunately, with those incentives to kick in, they have to win things and qualify for the Champions League…

Rogers to Chelsea?

Journalist Ben Jacobs put out his latest on it all for talkSPORT yesterday.

He says that Rogers is likely to leave this summer even if Aston Villa get Champions League qualification.

Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United are named as the main interested clubs, and £80m is the starting point figure for negotiations.

He goes on to state that Chelsea are looking for an attacker who can play off the left or central this summer.

In other news today…

Arsenal have apparently moved to jump in ahead of Chelsea in the race to sign 21-year-old Como centre back Jacobo Ramon this summer.

Meanwhile, World Cup winner Marco Materazzi has told Chelsea that they made a mistake letting Enzo Maresca go and they need a change. He is suggesting that they look to bring in their former player Cesc Fabregas instead.
