Chelsea remain keenly interested in acquiring the services of AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan and are positioning themselves to secure his signature on a free transfer next summer.
As reported by TBR Football, the London club is committed to pursuing the French international after a previous attempt to sign him last June fell through. While personal terms were agreed upon with the player at that time, a transfer fee could not be finalized with Milan.
Maignan has since paused contract extension discussions with his current club to evaluate his future opportunities. Chelsea are optimistic about their chances of landing the 30-year-old—widely considered among the elite goalkeepers globally—and are aiming for a move when his contract expires in 2026.
The shot-stopper had previously remained with Milan following the arrival of manager Massimiliano Allegri, who reaffirmed Maignan’s role as team captain. Chelsea believe his addition would significantly strengthen their goalkeeping department and establish him as a cornerstone of the squad.
Last season, Maignan featured in 53 matches across all competitions for the Italian side.
