Le Parisien journalist Marc Mechenoua has revealed that Chelsea defender Malo Gusto (21) has withdrawn from the France U21 squad.
Gusto, who featured in Chelsea’s 1-1 draw against London rivals Arsenal over the weekend, had joined up with his compatriots at Clairefontaine, however, his stay has been short. As per Le Parisien’s report, the former Olympique Lyonnais defender left the France U21 camp on Tuesday morning. The nature of his injury, however, has not yet been revealed.
There are four other doubts for Les Bleuets. Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike, RC Strasbourg Alsace’s Dilane Bakwa, AS Monaco’s Maghnes Akliouche, and VfB Stuttgart’s Enzo Millot, who had been tipped for a call-up to the senior side, will all undergo tests on Tuesday afternoon. Decisions will be taken on their fate following those tests and, if needs be, the France U21 staff will consider calling up replacements on Tuesday evening, according to Le Parisien.
