Chelsea’s PR briefing team in overdrive yesterday issuing clear not for sale message

Chelsea’s public relations team were very busy yesterday clearly issuing a big briefing to the media telling them all that one of their players is not for sale.

The thing is, there hadn’t actually been any recent reports suggesting that they were about to sell said player anyway, making these briefings look very odd and just completely unnecessary.

EXCLUSIVE! Chelsea pick main candidate for new full back transfer pursuit!

It was like clockwork yesterday early evening, one journalist after the other releasing the same story with slightly different wording, pretty much about ten minutes after each other.

The story they were releasing was that centre back Benoit Badiashile is not for sale. Cool, but I’m not sure anyone was reporting he was for sale?! Which gets the mind ticking and making you wonder why on earth they are putting this story out.

There has been some rumours of Badiashile potentially leaving Chelsea in the future and interest coming in from clubs, but nothing recent at all.

Journalists scramble to get Chelsea’s story out

Badiashile not for sale apparently

Journalist Ben Jacobs was one of the first to put the story out, followed very soon by Kieran Gill of The Daily Mail with the same story, and then you had your Matt Law’s and Fabrizio Romano’s who joined the briefing club not long after!

I think it was safe to say that for whatever reason, Chelsea wanted to get this story out there at this specific time, trying to convince us all that Badiashile is not for sale! It’s quite laughable to be honest.

Personally, I genuinely think that Chelsea could sell the French centre back in the summer, that’s just a feeling I have. They have been strongly linked to new centre backs and do need to upgrade there. I think if a good offer came in then they wouldn’t hesitate to accept it.
