Liverpool entertained Southampton at Anfield earlier tonight as they looked to secure a victory at home in the EFL Cup. The Reds made a bright start to the game and managed to grab the lead in the 43rd minute when Alexander Isak found the back of the net from close range. Arne Slot’s players were leading 1-0 at the half-time break.
Shea Charles equalised for the Saints in the 76th minute. However, Hugo Ekitike scored the winning goal in the 85th minute but was sent off a minute later after picking up two yellow cards. The Reds hung on and earned a narrow 2-1 win in front of their home fans.
He made a couple of solid saves at the back but couldn’t do much about Charles’ equaliser.
