Chris Wood has addressed Elliot Anderson’s Nottingham Forest future amid mounting Manchester City interest, with Forest having already rejected one offer. The Reds are braced for further approaches in this summer’s window.

Speaking after New Zealand faced England in a World Cup warm-up on Saturday, the striker was asked about his team-mate. He said: "It'll be fantastic if he does [stay], he's a Forest player still and we want to keep him. What will be, will be. There are higher powers at play." He told Sky Sports.

"He's outstanding, it showed [tonight]. It was nice to play up against him for the first time and understand what he does. Some of those cutting balls were fantastic."

England won 1-0. Wood played 78 minutes, with Anderson coming on at half-time, leaving the pair on the pitch together for just over half an hour.

The 23-year-old is part of Thomas Tuchel’s England squad, so speculation is likely to intensify. Anderson is valued at more than £100 million and is being prioritised by City as a keynote signing this summer, and he has made 92 Forest appearances since joining from Newcastle in 2024. After an injury-ravaged season, Wood is fit again and, whatever happens in the USA in the coming weeks, will be a key player for the Reds next term.
