Reading FC have made a promising start to the new League One season given all the uncertainty that surrounds the club off the pitch.

The Royals are struggling financially, with supporters hoping that owner Dai Yongge will sell the Berkshire outfit as quickly as possible.

It remains to be seen what the future of the third division side holds, but Ruben Selles has continued to try to get the most out of the players he has available to him.

The January window could be another difficult period for Reading, with the club under a transfer embargo at the moment.

Other clubs may also look to take advantage of their financial situation by trying to poach some of their young talent.

When asked which player the club cannot afford to lose in the winter market, FLW’s Reading fan pundit Johnny Hunt claimed both Tyler Bindon and Lewis Wing must be kept.

He praised Bindon’s bright talent at the age of just 19, while also feeling someone with Wing’s leadership quality can’t be lost during this difficult period for the club.

“To be honest, we can’t really afford to lose anyone in the transfer window because of the size of the squad being so small,” Hunt told Football League World.

“But obviously people knowing the financial situation of the club will be circling like sharks.

“It’s hard to pick one player that you can’t afford to lose because we’ve got so many vital positions, but I’ve narrowed it down to two.

“Tyler Bindon being an immense talent at such a young age is only going to get better and better, and will certainly play at a much higher level I think.

“But we can’t afford to let him go.

“And the other one is Lewis Wing.

“I think he’s grown into the role of captain, loves the club and his goals and his leadership is vital for us at the minute.

“I would stick with Tyler Bindon as the main one for me because I just think he’s an immense talent at such a young age, and we’ve made so many mistakes losing young players for nothing like [Michael] Olise and Omar Richards.

“We can’t afford to do it this time.”

The importance of Bindon and Wing to Reading FC

Bindon has cemented himself as a key part of the Reading first team squad already at the age of just 19.

He started 37 of their 46 games in League One last year, and has started each of their opening 11 fixtures this season as well.

Meanwhile, Wing has become club captain, and has contributed two goals and three assists from 11 starts in League One this campaign.

The 29-year-old is one of the team’s more experienced players in an otherwise young squad, and has been crucial to their positive start to the term.

Wing and Bindon sales would really hurt Reading FC

January could be a very difficult period for Reading due to this transfer embargo they’ve been placed under.

Ideally, the club will be sold by then and perhaps the embargo will be lifted, but there are no guarantees of that at this stage.

If that remains the case, then players like Wing and Bindon will be garnering attention, as the opportunity to buy them for cut-rate prices will not be ignored by rivals.
