Claims of Newcastle United star leaving has just gone to another level

Earlier this month I had a couple of articles published on The Mag about a Newcastle United star supposedly leaving.
In that case it was Alexander Isak who was the subject of the ongoing media nonsense that has been written about him.
Pathetic PSG and Barcelona related websites, making various claims on the striker leaving Newcastle United.
Like many others, their ‘claims’ based on zero facts or credible sources.
Today we have a new one…
This time a different Newcastle United star, giving Alexander Isak a rest.
Whilst of course I rely 99 percent on The Mag for my Newcastle United fix, I do occasionally have a glance at what is being said elsewhere about NUFC.
This means that at times, like many of you, I use an ‘aggregator’ site, which if you don’t recognise that term, is one of those sites where you put in your interest as ‘Newcastle United’ and then it gives you an ongoing list of Newcastle United headlines from various media, you click on the headline and got to the article.
Anyway, the top and most read headline and article when I just had a look on a certain aggregator/headline site, was this…
‘Newcastle all but CONFIRM Anthony Gordon is leaving’
I have become so accustomed to all the nonsense headlines regarding Newcastle United, I can usually guess what rubbish they are going to come out with, so I don’t even bother clicking in.
However, with this Anthony Gordon major story/headline, my curiosity got the better of me.
Had I indeed totally missed something and this was a rare example of a proper story and not just a misleading headline?
I think you will have guessed by now where this is heading.
The headline/story is from a Liverpool related site called Anfield Watch and when it comes to the sources/sauces for this big headline claim, this is the reality…
‘One player who has been linked with a move to the Merseyside club for a while is Anthony Gordon, and now Newcastle have all but confirmed his departure.
According to a report from Football Insider, Newcastle are pursuing a deal for Serie A hotshot Assane Diao.
The 19-year-old, who joined Como in January, has already scored five goals in 10 games for the Serie A side.
Although Diao isn’t a like-for-like replacement for Gordon, both players are capable of being deployed right across the front line, and Diao has played almost half of his games for Como on the left – Gordon’s preferred position.
It would likely take a high fee for Como to move on from the teenager they paid €12 million for in January, and Newcastle would probably have to sell Gordon to fund their summer business.
Newcastle’s pursuit of Diao isn’t official confirmation that Gordon will move on, but it could be a very could indicator…’
I take it that when they used the word ‘could’ at the end of this piece, they meant to use ‘good’, though of course nothing remotely good about this nonsense.
So they end up getting lots of clicks and attention with their headline of ‘Newcastle all but CONFIRM Anthony Gordon is leaving’ and then of course we find out that Newcastle United haven’t confirmed anything about Anthony Gordon whatsoever. Indeed, NUFC haven’t said/indicated anything at all.
Another site (Football Insider) that runs countless transfer stories regarding Newcastle United and every other major club, has ran that story claiming NUFC interest in Assane Diao. Along with all these other sites constantly running transfer stories, their success rate of transfer stories that ever actually end up happening, is minimal.
It is beyond laughable that this Liverpool site run that ‘Newcastle all but CONFIRM Anthony Gordon is leaving’ headline, based on absolutely nothing.
They even admit themselves that their headline is totally misleading, when they say in that last line; ‘Newcastle’s pursuit of Diao isn’t official confirmation that Gordon will move on, but it could be a very could indicator…’
