Marquinhos has experienced both the triumphs and setbacks at PSG. From the heartbreak of falling short in the UEFA Champions League to last season’s historic treble, he played a key role in securing the club’s first-ever Champions League title.

Nonetheless, there have been moments in which many wondered whether it was time to move on from the Brazilian. Moreover, one French legend was hopeful that Marquinhos would leave the Parisians and embark on a bigger challenge.

Ever since arriving as a teenager, Marquinhos has remained with PSG. However, Claude Makélélé stated his desire to see the veteran defender play for one of the top clubs in Spain at one point.

In a recent interview, Makélélé spoke about wanting to see Marquinhos play for Real Madrid, considering the former midfielder was part of Carlo Ancelotti’s staff during his time in Paris.

“I have always wanted to see Marquinhos at Real Madrid,” Makélélé said (h/t Le10Sport). “I love this guy. I worked with him at PSG, with Ancelotti. His quality, his work, his passion, his patience… He has improved a lot, a lot.

“Of course, he is currently playing for the best team in the world, Paris Saint-Germain. But he’s the kind of player I would love to see in Madrid. He is very intelligent. And right now, I don’t see many defenders capable of playing one-on-one. He does. He’s the player of my dreams for Real Madrid, but I don’t think Paris will let him go.”

While it was easy for Marquinhos to leave at some point during his time at PSG, he stuck through the challenging times and was eventually rewarded with being the captain of the squad that finally won the Champions League.
