Grace Clinton is confident she’ll keep going from strength to strength at City after marking her debut with a goal.

The midfielder came off the bench to grab the Blues’ fourth in an impressive 5-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur in the Barclays Women’s Super League.

Further goals from Aoba Fujino, Vivianne Miedema, Kerstin Casparij and Laura Coombs set the seal on an impressive win over a side who were yet to concede this season.

And after a special first appearance for City, Clinton’s looking forward to seeing what she’s capable of in blue.

“I can see myself now already analysing what I would've done differently in the game, passes I would've made,” she said after the win.

“Playing with these girls will make me so much better.

“Kerolin challenges me on what passes and forward passes I'm going to make but her movement is incredible.

“The depth of the squad is just amazing and I'm excited to start properly.”

Rather poetically, Clinton’s first City goal came against a Spurs side who she’d enjoyed a hugely successful loan spell with during the 2023/24 campaign.

The midfielder was named PFA WSL Young Player of the Year that season, and said it was a special feeling to return to her old stomping ground.

But getting of the mark for her new team was what really capped off a memorable evening for the youngster.

She added: “It feels amazing. It takes the pressure off a little bit now, now I can get flowing into the season.

“The main thing for me was getting onto the pitch, making those connections with the girls and getting stuck in. It was nice.

“I loved my time at Spurs, and I've loved seeing some familiar faces.

“That is where I really developed as a young player and gave me so much confidence, so it was lovely to see them all.”
