CM: Bennacer’s Marseille wishes could depend on De Zerbi’s fate – the situation | OneFootball

Ismael Bennacer hopes to earn a permanent stay at Marseille but his situation could be linked to the fate of Roberto De Zerbi.

As Calciomercato.com report, Bennacer really wanted to join Marseille and did everything he could to force the move in the winter window. However, his first few months have been tough because the team have declined, putting qualification for the next Champions League at risk.

He has had difficulties from a physical point of view, too: so far the Algerian international has collected eight appearances for 493 total minutes with only one assist to his name. Thus, his future remains up in the air.

Marseille’s sporting director Mehdi Benatia and the head coach De Zerbi were and are the main supporters of Bennacer. The current plan is to keep the former Empoli man and to sign him permanently, but if there is a change in manager then things would be up in the air.

Milan consider Bennacer’s time to be over and did not appreciate the pressure put on them by the player to leave on the last day of the winter window. They have already collected a €1m loan fee, and hope to get €12m more from his option to buy being exercised.

Discussions between Benatia and Geoffrey Moncada took place in Milan about ten days ago, there is great harmony between the parties, which could also concern future operations. First, however, the Bennacer deal will have to be completely defined.
