Cömert ‘signs’ two-year deal with Torino in Serie A | OneFootball

Torino have completed the signing of Swiss centre-back Cömert on a two-year contract after his Valencia deal expired on 30 June, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

Cömert had been without a club since the end of June, having left Mestalla following a spell that began in winter 2022 under José Bordalás. He was awaiting his next move after appearing at the World Cup with Switzerland.

His time at Valencia was largely uneventful, though the second half of 25/26 brought improved displays, with greater defensive assurance and cleaner build-up play.

He had two loans, to Nantes in 23/24 and to Valladolid in 24/25, the latter ending in relegation and with the defender struggling when selected.

Torino finished 12th last season, did not struggle to stay up, but were far from European places. Lazio had also shown interest in the centre-back. They ended ninth and will not play in Europe.

Cömert was not a regular for Murat Yakin at the World Cup, but he came on in the quarter-final when Switzerland went down to 10 men. Following Embolo’s red card, he was introduced in extra time to help protect a 1-1 scoreline, yet Switzerland lost 1-3. It was his only appearance at the tournament.
