Cole Palmer will miss Chelsea's remaining games for the international break as the club look to pbe 'conservative' with his groin injury.
The Blues have a busy schedule all at home before the break with Enzo Maresca's side set to bounce back from their defeat at Old Trafford when they face familiar foes Brighton & Hove Albion.
Next, the Blues welcome back new Benfica manager José Mourinho in the Champions League before Premier League leaders Liverpool come to town.
"Yes, we decided to protect a little bit Cole. In terms of not letting his injury getting worse," Maresca confirmed in his pre-match press conference.
"We decided to rest him for two-three weeks until the international break to see if with that rest he can recover 100% and to be fit after the international break.
"I don't think he needs surgery but it is just to manage the pain in his groin. We have decided to be a little bit conservative with him."
Palmer has played four times for Chelsea so far, scoring twice – in the draw with Brentford and the defeat to Bayern Munich.
