Richard Ríos started in Colombia’s 3-1 defeat to France. According to Glorioso 1904, he drew criticism at home, with assessments saying he was short of his best.
The Benfica midfielder featured from the outset on Sunday in what was Colombia’s second friendly of the March window, part of preparations for the 2026 World Cup this summer.
Colombian outlets routinely rated the players against the current World Cup runners-up, and Ríos’s display was considered below expectations.
AS Colombia reported that he again failed to reach his top level for the national side, pressed without effect in regaining possession and was imprecise with his passing.
Futbolred gave him a middling rating of five, noting a bright start followed by a downturn, too much ground to cover and a couple of overzealous fouls.
Colombia, one of Portugal’s group opponents at the 2026 World Cup, also lost 2-1 to Croatia in March. They next play in May and June, with warm-ups against Costa Rica on 29 and Jordan on 7.
