Chelsea defender Mamadou Sarr is attracting interest from Como, per Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Blues will likely be open to a deal, as the Senegalese star has struggled to nail down a starting spot.

Chelsea signed the 20-year-old from sister club Strasbourg and brought him to London in January when they needed a solution to their injury and defensive woes.

Unfortunately, he struggled to get going under then Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior and interim manager Calum McFarlane.

While he reads the game well enough on the ground, he is not particularly imposing enough and struggles in the air.

However, former Chelsea playmaker and current Como boss Cesc Fabregas believes he can get the best out of Sarr.

They were after Sarr’s teammate Trevoh Chalobah, but he is eyeing a move elsewhere.

Sarr is also not their first choice, but direct contact suggests they are seriously considering a move.

Sarr’s Chelsea move is increasingly looking like another costly misjudgement by the club’s hierarchy.

He was signed to help solve a defence that was leaking goals, yet he never came close to addressing those problems.

Chelsea interrupted the development of another promising youngster midway through the season, only to leave him on the fringes at Stamford Bridge.

The collateral damage was significant. The French side lost a key figure during the decisive months of the campaign, contributing to their failure to qualify for Europe.

Chelsea gained virtually nothing in return, while Sarr lost valuable playing time at a stage when regular football was essential to his progression.

It is another example of poor planning, questionable recruitment and a multi-club strategy that has hurt both clubs – incompetence at its finest.
