Confirmed: Atlético Madrid agree €30m+ deal for La Liga star | OneFootball

La Liga giants Atlético Madrid are on the verge of closing the signing of a member of the midfield ranks at Real Betis.

The player in question? Johnny Cardoso.

Engine room standout Cardoso has of course seen his name heavily linked with Atlético for several weeks now.

As much comes after the United States international was earmarked as the ideal profile of player, amid an ongoing search for reinforcements in the middle of the park on the part of Diego Simeone and co.

Talks, in turn, had long been kicked into gear with those in the boardroom at the aforementioned Betis.

And as alluded to above, this week, Atléti appear to have landed their man.

As per a report from transfer insider Fabrizio Romano:

‘Johnny Cardoso to Atlético Madrid, here we go! Deal agreed in principle for package in excess of €30m and five year contract ready for the midfielder since start of June.’
