Manchester City welcome West Ham United to the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon in their first contest of the new calendar year.
Pep Guardiola and his City players will be hoping for a much more positive second-half to the season after a 14-game run across competitions saw Manchester City win just two during that period at the back-end of 2024.
Thankfully for the reigning Premier League champions, the final game of the last calendar year saw City claim a victory as they defeated low-lying Leicester via a 0-2 scoreline at the King Power Stadium, courtesy of goals from Savinho and Erling Haaland.
Julen Lopetegui and his players have taken on a mixed bag of results of their own across the season so far, but recent outings have seen them lift the pressure off the West Ham manager of late having endured a period where his position as head coach was in huge doubt.
Victories against Wolves and Southampton were coupled with score draws against Bournemouth and Brighton & Hove Albion, whilst West Ham will come into the clash against City off the back of a heavy 0-5 home defeat to Liverpool.
Ahead of the meeting between Manchester City and West Ham United, the Premier League have now announced the list of match officials to oversee proceedings at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon!
The Premier League have this week announced that referee Michael Salisbury will take on the role of lead match official on the pitch at the Etihad Stadium for Manchester City against West Ham United.
This weekend’s clash in the English top-flight will be Salisbury’s 11th outing of the ongoing season and his 5th in the Premier League, having taken on matches in the Championship, EFL Trophy, and League Two, too.
Across those 10 matches so far, Michael Salisbury has issued 37 yellow cards, three red cards, and is yet to award a penalty-kick, whilst this weekend’s contest will be only his second match involving Manchester City.
The last time the Lancashire-born official took charge of Pep Guardiola’s side came in the FA Cup third round during last season, as Manchester City comfortably dismissed of Huddersfield Town at the Etihad Stadium.
Accompanying Michael Salisbury at the Etihad Stadium this weekend and taking on the roles of assistant referees will be Eddie Smart and Derek Eaton.
Operating their duties at Stockley Park and the VAR Hub will be Graham Scott in the position of Video Assistant Referee, accompanied by Scott Ledger in the role of Assistant Video Assistant Referee.
Standing between Pep Guardiola and Julen Lopetegui and overseeing the two dugouts from the position will be referee Oli Langford at the Etihad Stadium.
