The Coppa Italia First Round continued today with a Venezia victory, Alvaro Morata’s debut for Como, but Cagliari needed penalties and Palermo eliminated Cremonese.
The ties are all one-off games, to be decided after 90 minutes or a penalty shoot-out, as there is no provision for extra time.
These are the first competitive matches for these teams in this season, so there could be upsets with some a little rusty.
The Lagunari swept Mantova aside with a comfortable victory and set up a local derby in the next round against Hellas Verona or Cerignola.
Issa Doumbia was the star of the show with a brace before half-time, then John Yeboah matched it with two of his own in the second half.

Cesc Fabregas had a bit of a scare in his first game of the season, having gone behind early on when Daniele Casiraghi converted a penalty for Sudtirol.
However, they reacted strongly with two goals in as many minutes from Anastasios Douvikas, followed by Lucas Da Cunha just 120 seconds later.
Alvaro Morata came on for the second half, while Filipe Bordon was sent off at the 88th minute for Sudtirol.
Como will go on to play Sassuolo in the next round.

It was a worrying start to the campaign for new coach Fabio Pisacane, who scraped through the Coppa Italia in a penalty shoot-out.
Roberto Piccoli opened the scoring on the stroke of half-time from the Michel Adopo assist, but the drama all happened in the final stages.
Entella equalised thanks to a clumsy Alessandro Deiola own goal, then Cagliari had the chance to win it ruined by Jerry Mina missing a penalty.
The Sardinians were more fortunate in the shoot-out, as Elia Caprile made the decisive save on Karic. They will play against Monza or Frosinone in the Second Round.
Pippo Inzaghi appointed head coach of Palermo.
The first big upset of the Coppa Italia is from Cremonese, recently promoted to Serie A and already out of the tournament.
They played out a 0-0 draw with Pippo Inzaghi’s Palermo and were defeated in the penalty shoot-out when Francesco Bardi parried the final effort from Dennis Johnson.
The Sicilians go on to face Udinese in the next phase of the Coppa Italia.
