Corinthians have agreed a cost-free loan for 37-year-old goalkeeper João Ricardo from Fortaleza until the end of the season.

O Povo first reported the agreement. The contract signing and presentation are expected in March, as he is recovering from right shoulder surgery carried out in October, and Corinthians intend to wait for a medical report before completing the deal.

The board view João Ricardo as an experienced deputy to Hugo Souza. He previously worked under Dorival Júnior at Ceará.

The other goalkeepers in the squad are all young, Felipe Longo, 20, Kauê, 21, and Matheus Donelli, 23. Donelli could be moved on.

João Ricardo has played for Paysandu, Paraná, América-MG, Chapecoense and Ceará, joining Fortaleza in 2023. The club decided to negotiate his exit to ease the wage bill. In 2025 he made 35 appearances.
