Corinthians agree new deal with right-back in final youth year

Corinthians is experiencing a period of intense changes in its youth categories in recent months. In the last few hours, the club from Parque São Jorge finalized the contract renewal of right-back Gabriel Caipira (2005), who is in his last year playing in the Under-20, until December 2026. The information was exclusively obtained by Central do Timão.

Previously, his contract was set to expire on January 31, 2026. Gabriel Caipira, captain and one of the leaders of the Under-20 team, is expected to be on coach William Batista's roster for the São Paulo Junior Football Cup. After the competition, the player will be promoted to the professional squad, led by Dorival Júnior. If not utilized, the 20-year-old player may be loaned out to gain experience.

In addition to the right-back, the Alvinegro also reached an agreement for the contract renewal with midfielder Thomas Lisboa, also born in 2005, until December 2026. Like Caipira, his contract was set to expire in January of next year. It is worth noting that the player has been participating in the main squad's training sessions at the request of Dorival Júnior.

Only the contract signature remains in both cases. The information was reported by Itatiaia and confirmed by Central do Timão. The midfielder recently returned to action, having been out of the field for a long period – missing the 2025 Copinha – recovering from a knee ligament injury.

At 20 years old, he has played 92 matches in the Under-17 and 20 categories of Corinthians, scoring three goals, with 42 wins, 21 draws, and 27 losses. He was part of the team that won the 2024 Copinha, against Cruzeiro, in Itaquera, under the guidance of former midfielder Danilo.

Meanwhile, Gabriel Caipira, who has yet to make his debut in the main Corinthians team but was listed for a professional match – against Sport, at home, in the fifth round of the 2025 Brasileirão, has scored three goals in 41 games this season. In the Under-17 and 20 categories of Corinthians, he has scored four goals in 121 games, with 65 wins, 26 draws, and 30 losses.
