Corinthians beaten in LNF and slip towards relegation zone | OneFootball

Corinthians slipped towards danger in the Liga Nacional de Futsal after a 1-0 defeat away to Umuarama in Paraná on Saturday.

According to Meu Timao, the setback has revived concern over a potential relegation play-off.

A 3-1 win over Tubarão Futsal in round 10 had briefly lifted the side into the championship play-off places, easing pressure. The momentum proved short-lived.

Corinthians have two wins in 11 rounds and sit 13th with eight points. They are level with São José in 14th and one ahead of Marreco and bottom club Santo André.

São José and Marreco have already played this round, so cannot alter Corinthians' standing. Santo André visit Joinville on Monday and, if they win, would climb above Corinthians, dropping them to 14th and into the play-off place.

Relegation, and a play-off for 14th, are new this season. The bottom two, 15th and 16th, go down automatically, while 14th face a two-legged tie against the third-placed side from LNF Silver, the equivalent of Série B of the Campeonato Brasileiro.

Corinthians host Minas at the Ginásio Wlamir Marques, Fazendinha, at 19:30 on Friday 10, in round 12, seeking breathing space.
