Corinthians begin Vila Belmiro derby prep as Memphis Depay returns to training | OneFootball

Corinthians resumed work at CT Joaquim Grava on Tuesday morning ahead of Thursday’s Paulistão derby at Vila Belmiro. According to Meu Timao, Memphis Depay trained on the pitch with the squad for the first time this year after a muscular rebalancing programme, but Dorival Júnior has ruled him out of the Clássico Alvinegro.

After a rest day on Monday, the squad began with gym activation, then a pitch warm-up and possession drills. Players who featured for more than 45 minutes in the 1-1 draw with São Paulo on Sunday at Neo Química Arena did only indoor recovery work.

The remainder of the group, under Dorival Júnior, worked on attack versus defence and a further sector-focused exercise. The second and final session on the grass is scheduled for Wednesday.

There were further medical updates. Defender Cacá is treating a strain of the left internal oblique muscle. Rodrigo Garro is sidelined after surgery on his left wrist, while José Martínez remains absent as he reissues his passport in Venezuela.

Corinthians are seventh in the Paulistão with four points. Kick-off is 19:30 in the fourth round.
