Corinthians cautious on Memphis as Dorival rules out Santos derby return

According to Globo.com, Memphis Depay will not feature for Corinthians this week, with Dorival Júnior ruling him out of Thursday’s derby against Santos at Vila Belmiro in the Paulistão.

Kick-off is 19:30 Brasília time and the fixture is in round four.

Memphis Depay has not played in 2026. The number 10 has a bone oedema in his left knee, received treatment early in pre-season and started physical work on the pitch last week, but he is not yet training with the group.

Dorival said the forward is only beginning his transition and still has some pain, so there is no timetable and the club will keep calm. He spoke after Sunday’s 1-1 draw with São Paulo.

Corinthians’ plan is for Memphis to be fully fit for the Supercopa do Brasil on one February against Flamengo. Midfielder Rodrigo Garro, who had surgery on his left wrist, has also yet to play this year and is being readied for that match.
