Corinthians champions, CBF unveils 2026 Copa do Brasil schedule

Last Tuesday (6), the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) released the base schedule for the 2026 Copa do Brasil. As the current champion and with four titles in the tournament (1995, 2002, 2009, and 2025), Corinthians will debut in the competition only in the fifth phase, between April 22 and 23, along with the other 19 Série A teams.

The return matches of the fifth phase are scheduled for May 13 or 14. In 2026, the competition will feature 126 clubs, with the first phase, set for February 18 or 19, including 20 teams. Single-leg matches will be played up to the fourth phase, one before the start of the fifth stage.

Unlike other seasons, the 2026 Copa do Brasil final will be held as a single match, with the base date scheduled for December 6. The venue for the grand final has not yet been determined. The round of 16 is expected to take place on August 1 or 2 (first leg) and August 5 or 6 (second leg).

The quarterfinals are set for August 26 or 27 (first leg) and September 2 or 3 (second leg). Finally, the semifinals will be on November 1 (first leg) and November 8 (second leg). Last year, it is worth remembering, the Alvinegro had the following campaign up to the title: Novorizontino (third phase), Palmeiras (round of 16), Athletico-PR (quarterfinals), Cruzeiro (semifinal), and Vasco da Gama (final).

In total, there were eight wins, one draw, and one loss in 10 matches – 12 goals scored and only three conceded. In the final, the club from Parque São Jorge drew 0-0 against Vasco at Neo Química Arena. In the return leg, at Maracanã, Corinthians triumphed 2-1, with goals from forwards Yuri Alberto and Memphis Depay.

The title secured Corinthians a direct spot in the group stage of the 2026 Conmebol Libertadores (and over R$ 97 million in prize money), as well as the chance to play in the Supercopa do Brasil final against Flamengo (Brazilian champion) on February 1, at Mané Garrincha, in Brasília.
