Corinthians have signed 27-year-old midfielder Matheus Pereira on loan from Fortaleza until the end of the 2026 season, the club said, with an option to buy.
He arrived in São Paulo on Sunday and underwent medicals at CT Dr Joaquim Grava. Now on the CBF’s BID and registered with the FPF, he can debut against São Paulo on Sunday at Neo Química Arena in the third round of the Paulistão.
An academy graduate, he joined the first team at 17 and featured in Tite’s 2015 pre-season in Florida, part of that year’s Brazilian title-winning group.
He was a runner-up in the 2016 Copa São Paulo to Flamengo and made only three senior appearances for Corinthians.
In June 2016 he joined Juventus for €2.5 million and had a series of loans, including Empoli, Bordeaux II, Paraná, Juventus B, Dijon and Barcelona B.
Barcelona B signed him permanently for about €8 million in 2021. He later joined Eibar, making 118 appearances, then moved to Fortaleza in June 2025 on a deal to December 2027.
He played 20 matches with three assists and two goals, and Fortaleza finished 18th on 43 points after relegation. Left-footed and 1.83 metres tall, he offers progressive passing from deep or advanced roles, covering Maycon’s exit to Atlético-MG.
Pereira is Corinthians’ second addition of the window after Gabriel Paulista, who was announced after the 3-0 win over Ponte Preta and debuted against Red Bull Bragantino. Moves for Pedro Milans and Kaio César are advancing.
