Corinthians cruise past Pulo, lead Paulista Futsal quarter-finals

On the evening of Thursday, the 23rd, Corinthians returned to the court for the São Paulo Futsal Championship. In a match valid for the first leg of the quarterfinals of the competition, the Alvinegro went to the Rogê Ferreira Gymnasium in Campinas to face Pulo Futsal, winning 3-1 in a smooth performance in front of the Fiel, who were present in large numbers. The goals were scored by Rick, Luisinho, and Deives.

With this result, the People's Team takes an important advantage home. In the return match, vying for a spot in the state semifinals, Corinthians can lose by one goal at the Wlamir Marques Gymnasium and still qualify for the next phase.

Coach Fernando Malafaia lined up Corinthians with a starting quintet of Kelvin, Lucas Martins, Maicon, Igor Carioca, and Deives. On the bench, Lucas Oliveira, Luisinho, Caio Barros, Luiz Brizzi, Renatinho, Edimar, Rick, Vandinho, Marlon, and Papagaio were available.

Pulo started pressing at home, creating danger early on: Biru hit the post, and Gustavo shot hard but missed. Corinthians responded with good passing exchanges, and Deives almost connected with Igor Carioca in the area, but Felipe intervened. Lucas Martins also threatened with a long shot that hit the post. The opening goal came from a corner kick by Luisinho to Rick, who got ahead of the defense to make it 1-0.

Timão increased the lead shortly after: Luisinho received on the left, dribbled past the defender, and struck a beautiful shot into the top corner, making it 2-0. In the following plays, they continued creating chances, with dangerous shots from Vandinho and Marlon requiring good saves from Felipe. Pulo tried to react but was blocked by the defense and Kelvin's saves. Then, from another corner, Lucas Martins assisted Deives, who made it 3-0 for Corinthians!

Pulo threatened again with Guga, but Kelvin saved. The Campinas team reduced the deficit just before halftime: Pedro Neto took advantage of a rebound outside the area and made it 3-1. Subsequently, a Timão goal was disallowed — Maicon passed to Lucas Martins, but the ball had gone out before the assist. In the last chance, Felipe prevented the fourth goal with a point-blank save from Lucas Martins' shot.

The second half began with Corinthians pressing: Caio Barros found Luisinho, who shot close to the goal. Pulo responded with Vinícius forcing a great save from Kelvin. Timão started controlling the game, exchanging passes and managing the lead, while the opponent tried to attack unsuccessfully. Gafanha created a good chance for Pulo with a strong shot from the right, but Kelvin held on to the ball.

Corinthians threatened again with Wandinho, and then Marlon faced Felipe one-on-one, who made a crucial save. The match became more balanced, with little space for clear chances. Deives missed a great opportunity one-on-one, attempting a pass to Renatinho that was cut off by the defense. Pulo found it difficult to break through the solid Corinthians defense.

Towards the end of the game, Pulo opted for a flying goalkeeper with Vinícius and created their best chance, with a shot from outside the area well saved by Kelvin. After recovering, Corinthians still posed a threat with Lucas Martins shooting over. Without major thrills in the final minutes, Timão controlled the score and confirmed the 3-1 victory!
