Corinthians defender officially joins Internacional on loan

On the afternoon of this Sunday (18), defender Félix Torres, who has a contract with Corinthians until December 2027, was announced as a new signing for Internacional. The contract with the team from Rio Grande do Sul is valid until the end of the season, with a purchase option – values kept confidential by both parties. Until then, the main obstacle to a positive outcome in the negotiations was a debt of R$ 2.6 million from the Parque São Jorge club with the Ecuadorian. The athlete has been in Porto Alegre since the early hours of last Thursday (15). The number 3 lost his place in the Corinthians squad mainly in the second half of the year, already with Dorival Júnior in charge of the team, and became the last option among the defenders.

The Central do Timão found out that the Ecuadorian no longer inspired confidence in the management and technical staff regarding his performance on the field. Before departing to sign with his new team, Félix Torres was on the Alvinegro bench last Sunday (11), in the 3-0 victory against Ponte Preta, in Itaquera, for the first round of the Paulistão. He did not leave the bench.

Since his arrival at Corinthians in January 2024, Félix Torres never managed to establish himself at Parque São Jorge. As mentioned earlier, the athlete lost his place mainly in the second half of the year, where he played only two matches with the Corinthians jersey between the end of August and the beginning of December, without being called upon in the semifinals and final matches of the Copa do Brasil.

The Ecuadorian became the last option in a sector that includes Gustavo Henrique, André Ramalho, Gabriel Paulista, João Pedro Thoca, and Cacá. The number 3 was acquired from Santos Laguna, Mexico, in January 2024, for R$ 40 million – something that resulted in a transfer ban from FIFA to the club a year and a half later.

In 80 matches (73 as a starter) with the Corinthians jersey, Félix Torres scored one goal. He was part of the team's historic comeback in the Brasileirão 2024, moving from the Z4 to securing a spot in the Pré-Libertadores, in addition to winning the Campeonato Paulista and Copa do Brasil in 2025, against Palmeiras and Vasco, respectively.
