Marco Polo Lopes Pinheiro, Corinthians' director of land sports, has offered to resign after clashes with president Osmar Stabile. According to Boletim Corinthiano, he put his position at the board's disposal last Thursday.
The rift intensified during the futsal squad's pre-season trip to Rio Grande do Sul for the Super Copa Gramado in early March, a visit Pinheiro did not attend.
Tension had already surfaced in November when the club confirmed the closure of its basketball programme. The basketball manager, Gustavo Freitas, known as Montanha, offered to step down but stayed after being persuaded.
Pinheiro will be replaced by Ricardo Sena, the department's current deputy who had overseen the club's associative wing. Pinheiro had taken charge when Augusto Melo became president, and, despite Melo's impeachment, he was the only director kept on by Stabile, who assumed the role permanently last August.
Another unpaid statutory director, Carlos Roberto Auricchio, Nenê do Posto, stepped down from the youth setup in February over disagreements with the board. Corinthians' land sports cover more than 50 disciplines, notably futsal and men's basketball, alongside internal teams and programmes such as the Cifac.
