Corinthians could have drawn any of the other 15 qualifiers, 14 from the top flight and two from Série B. The last 16 ties are: Internacional v Corinthians, Mirassol v Grêmio, Palmeiras v Fortaleza, Atlético Mineiro v Juventude, Chapecoense v Cruzeiro, Vasco da Gama v Fluminense, Athletico Paranaense v Vitória, Santos v Remo.

The clubs have met in three Copa do Brasil knockouts. Internacional advanced in 1992 and 2017, while Corinthians won the 2009 final against them at Beira-Rio.

By reaching the last 16, Corinthians have secured R$ five million in prize money, R$ two million for the fifth round plus R$ three million for this stage. A quarter-final berth would bring a further R$ four million.

As holders, Corinthians opened this campaign with two 1-0 wins over Barra of Santa Catarina. Jesse Lingard scored in the first leg in Florianópolis, and Yuri Alberto netted in São Paulo in the return. They are chasing a fifth crown after lifting a fourth against Vasco da Gama in December 2025 at the Maracanã.
