Corinthians closed out the first half of the Brasileirão on 30 May with a 3-1 win at Grêmio, but discipline is an issue. Across 18 league games they have collected 47 bookings and four red cards, 51 in total.

According to Meu Timao, that tally places them third for cards so far, behind Santos on 58 and Red Bull Bragantino on 54. Atlético-MG are the most disciplined, with 28 yellows and three reds.

Flashpoints included Matheuzinho’s straight red for aggression in the derby with Palmeiras on 12 April. Midfielders Allan, against Fluminense, and André Luiz, in the same derby, were sent off for obscene gestures. André Luiz was also punished against Vasco for violent conduct.

The accumulation rule has bitten, with suspensions following three bookings. Matheus Bidu leads with five yellows, while Matheuzinho, Allan and Raniele have four cards each. André Carrillo, Gabriel Paulista, Gustavo Henrique, Rodrigo Garro and André Ramalho each have three bookings.

Any player on two yellows is one from a ban, so Hugo Souza, Yuri Alberto, Kaio César, Fabrizio Angileri and Jesse Lingard are at risk against Remo. Rodrigo Garro will serve an automatic suspension after receiving his third yellow at Grêmio.

Corinthians are now in a mid-season break. They face FC Cascavel in a friendly on 12 July at Estádio Olímpico Regional in Paraná, then resume the league on 22 July against Remo at Neo Química Arena.
