The opening 2026 transfer window closed on Tuesday and Corinthians estimate a R$ 1.5 million wage-bill reduction after 11 exits. According to Meu Timao, the calculation follows the end of this semester’s registration period.

It forms part of a 2026 plan to cut personnel costs, with a projected fall from R$ 435 million to R$ 354 million, about R$ 6.2 million per month.

Corinthians had been unable to sign players since 12 August 2025, when the Court of Arbitration for Sport ordered them to pay US$ 6.145 million, R$ 33.47 million at the time, to Santos Laguna for Félix Torres. They settled on 9 January 2026, by then R$ 41.6 million with interest, and were cleared to recruit again.

The board took a cautious stance, prioritising free agents and low-cost loans. Moves for Alisson of São Paulo and Gerson, then at Zenit, did not progress for financial reasons.

The deadline only covers transfers from other clubs, as with Matheus Pereira and Kaio César. Free agents such as Jesse Lingard can still be registered. The CBF also opened a 4-27 March window for players from state leagues, relevant to Botafogo goalkeeper Neto, with whom Corinthians have recently opened talks.

Seven signings arrived, among them Gabriel Paulista, Pedro Milans, Allan, Zakaria Labyad and Jesse Lingard. Savings were cited from Fagner’s exit, about R$ 8 million, Héctor Hernández’s, projected at R$ 4.8 million, and Diego Palacios’ loan, R$ 2.6 million.
