Corinthians enter a decisive week to settle around R$ 42 million owed to Talleres for Rodrigo Garro. If the sum is not paid by Friday, the Argentine club could ask FIFA to impose a transfer ban.

Contract drafts were exchanged just over a week ago to conclude an agreement, to be paid in a lump sum. Central do Timão reports that the club have secured a loan from Outfield on one percent a year plus CDI, to be repaid in instalments.

The debt traces to a FIFA ruling in February 2025, set at about R$ 18.7 million. Corinthians have appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in a bid to avert a new transfer ban. Talks had been stalled amid tensions between former president Augusto Melo, who led the 2024 signing, and Talleres’ hierarchy.

A shift in stance under the current board helped restart negotiations. Club president Osmar Stabile travelled to Argentina to meet Talleres counterpart Andrés Fassi, a move welcomed in Córdoba. In early April, Stabile said the Corinthians advisory council, Cori, had approved the proposed payment plan.

Stabile has also set up an internal group to stabilise finances at Parque São Jorge. The unit helped settle amounts owed to Santos Laguna over Félix Torres, ending a previous FIFA transfer ban, and worked on the Matías Rojas case. The same group has been active in the Talleres talks.
