Corinthians stepped up preparations on Tuesday morning at CT Joaquim Grava for Thursday night’s third-round Libertadores meeting with the Uruguayan side Peñarol at Neo Química Arena, welcoming back two forwards.
According to Meu Timao, after gym work and a warm-up on the grass, Fernando Diniz oversaw a tactical session focused on building attacks, then trialled options for the likely starting line-up.
In the closing phase, the squad split in two. Players who logged more than 45 minutes in Sunday’s win over Vasco moved indoors for recovery, while the rest stayed outside for a 10 v 10 exercise.
Gui Negão and Memphis Depay were back on the pitch. The youngster, injured while with Brazil Under-20s, completed part of the work with the group. The Dutchman began a physical transition. Both had right-thigh issues and have not featured since the 1-1 draw with Flamengo on 22 March.
Centre-back João Pedro Tchoca, left-back Hugo Farias, midfielder Charles and forward Kayke remain in the medical department.
Corinthians have one more session on Wednesday to finalise preparation. They are unbeaten in the Libertadores with wins over Platense of Argentina and Independiente Santa Fe of Colombia.
