Corinthians keep perfect record against Capivariano

Corinthians faced Capivariano at the Neo Química Arena on the night of this Thursday (5th), in a match valid for the sixth round of the first phase of the 2026 Campeonato Paulista, and won, with relative ease, by a score of 3-0. The goals, all in the second half, were scored by midfielder Dieguinho, as well as forwards Gui Negão and Kayke. The victory placed the Alvinegro in fourth place on the overall table with 11 points (three wins, two draws, and one loss – nine goals scored and five conceded).

In addition to the win, Corinthians also managed to maintain their 100% record in matches against Capivariano throughout history. In three matches between the two teams, there have been three Corinthians victories, with eight goals scored and three conceded. The matchup is rather uncommon for Corinthians, since the team from the interior of São Paulo had only played in the state’s top division in 2015 and 2016 – precisely the occasions when the two teams faced each other.

The first encounter took place in the 2015 state championship, on March 22 of that year, when the Corinthians team won 3-2, with goals from Emerson Sheik and Paolo Guerrero (twice), at Estádio Carlos Colnaghi. The second, in turn, occurred on February 11, 2016, at the Neo Química Arena, in the third round of the first phase of that year’s Paulistão, and ended with an Alvinegro victory by 2-1. Corinthians’ goals were scored by forward Ángel Romero, right at the start of the match, and midfielder Guilherme.

On that occasion, just over 23,000 fans were present in Itaquera. The third game between Corinthians and Capivariano in history took place precisely this evening and, as mentioned, also ended with a Corinthians victory, this time by 3-0. The win also paved the way for Alvinegro’s spot in the state quarterfinals, and they are now just two points behind the tournament leader, which at this moment is Novorizontino, with 13 points.

After defeating Capivariano in Itaquera, Corinthians remain focused on the Campeonato Paulista. Next Sunday (8th), at 8:30 pm (Brasília time), Alvinegro will face Palmeiras at the Neo Química Arena, for the seventh and penultimate round of the first phase of the state championship. Alviverde is in third place on the overall table with 12 points, making the classic a direct showdown.
