Corinthians match best Neo Química Arena winning run since 2017 | OneFootball

Corinthians made it six home wins on the spin at the Neo Química Arena, beating Atlético Mineiro 1-0 in the Brasileirão on Sunday to equal their best run there since 2017. Meu Timao notes the surge has provided breathing space over the relegation zone.

The sequence began on 15 April with a 2-0 Libertadores group win over Independiente Santa Fe. It continued with Vasco da Gama 1-0 in the league and Peñarol 2-0 in the continental competition.

Corinthians then edged São Paulo 3-2 and beat Barra 1-0 to secure Copa do Brasil last-16 qualification, before adding a sixth on Sunday.

The last time they strung together a home run as strong was during the 2017 heptacampeonato, between June and July, when they beat Santos 2-0, São Paulo 3-2, Cruzeiro 1-0, Bahia 3-0, Botafogo 1-0 and Ponte Preta 2-0, all in the league.

They also matched six-game streaks from 2015 and 2016. The next benchmark is the seven in 2023, while the club record remains 12, set between January and April 2016.

Unbeaten in Itaquera since Fernando Diniz took charge, Corinthians sit on 21 points in the league, still 16th. They host Platense on Wednesday at 21:30 in the final Libertadores group match, already assured of first place in Group E.
