Corinthians have settled their debt to Talleres for midfielder Rodrigo Garro, a payment that prevents a fresh FIFA transfer ban linked to the case.
According to Globo.com, the club wired US$ seven million on Friday, closing out the deal struck at the start of 2024.
The talks dragged on for months, even after deadlines set by Talleres president Andrés Fassi, though Corinthians’ current board kept relations cordial.
The dispute centred on Talleres’ claim to US$ 612,000 for operational costs and taxes, which Corinthians contested, delaying Garro’s registration early in 2024.
Corinthians initially paid US$ four million, after which Talleres took the case to FIFA seeking US$ three million in outstanding instalments. FIFA later ordered Corinthians to pay US$ 3,612,000 with 18% annual interest and a US$ 722,400 fine.
Despite this settlement, Corinthians remain barred from registering new players under a FIFA transfer ban tied to a separate debt to Philadelphia Union for José Martínez in 2024, about US$ one and a half million.
